    Specializing master in Fashion Tech.

    The athletic gesture comes out of the stadiums and inspires everyday life, while new interactive technologies and materials are changing lifestyles and consumption patterns. Fashion is permeated by sport and sport is inspired by fashion for garments that combine performance and style. These are the projects designed at the Specializing Master in Fashion Tech of the Politecnico di Milano, managed by POLI.design. A course dedicated to the futures scenarios of fashion, open to contamination between sport and fashion, competition and leisure, but also wearable technologies for interactive accessories. 

    The Specializing Master in Fashion Tech meets the needs of the market that requires innovative products and designers with technical and creative skills and knowledge on new materials, technologies and fashion languages. 

    The Master consists of a theoretical part devoted to new materials and technologies, sport’s culture, the new scenarios of interactive design for fashion and the methods of digital and multimedia representation. The testimonies of many athletes will complete the theoretical knowledges with their agonistic experiences. There are also five design workshops devoted to the production of finished products focused on Fashion Tech for Lifestyle Design, Activewear Design, Sportswear Design, Performance Sportswear Design, Interactive Fashion. 

    In each workshop, lecturers will be professionals of the sector, who will interact with leading companies in order to provide students with skills and professional methodologies. 

    The Specializing Master is held in English. 

    Goals 

    The Specializing Master provides skills for the design of active and interactive sportswear products, for lifestyle in terms of innovative materials and technology performance, for wearables accessories able to integrate fashion aesthetics with new contents and functions of the wearable technologies. The goal is to train designers able to work in sportswear but also in those areas where are required skills capable of combining technical materials, new technologies and performance. Fashion Tech designer has a crucial role in Fashion, Sportswear and Lifestyle areas given his ability to connect the different worlds of fashion, sports, electronics and information technology.

    Degree awarded

    The Specializing Master grants 60 CFU, equivalent to 60 ECTS. Upon completion, students earn a Politecnico di Milano First level Specializing Master diploma in Fashion Tech: From active to interactive fashion, sportswear and lifestyle design.

    Didactics.

    The Master trains designers able to work both in the field of garments and in urban and agonistic sportswear, but also in those areas where are required skills able to combine technical materials, new technologies and style.
    The attendance to the activities foreseen by the Master is obligatory for at least 75% of the hours.

    Didactic course

    Didactics will be structured as following:

    • Sportswear today, History of sportswear, Trend Forecasting, Wearables Design, Brand&Markets, New Technologies
    • Rhyno e Solidworks software
    • Illustrator, Photography
    • Workshop FASHION TECH LIFESTYLE (2 weeks)
    • Workshop ACTIVEWEAR (2 weeks)
    • Workshop SPORTSWEAR (2 weeks)
    • Workshop PERFORMANCE SPORTSWEAR (2 weeks)
    • Workshop INTERACTIVE FASHION (3 weeks)
    • Presentation and Portfolio (1 week)
    • Internship
    • Final presentation

    Attendance to the Specializing Master is mandatory for at least 75% of the course.

    Admission.

    Admission requirement

    The Specializing Master is reserved to candidates with a University Diploma, a Bachelor or a Master of Science in Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering, and candidates with equivalent qualifications. As for candidates who graduated abroad, equivalent study titles in their respective educational institutions will be considered.

    Admission procedure

    The Specializing Master Course Committee will select the students to be admitted.
    A maximum of 25 students will be admitted.
