Application requirements:


-B.Sc. in Physics, Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent (180 ECTS).
-Spanish and English language proficiency, Spanish at native-speaker level, English at a level comparable to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference
-One year qualified professional experience in medical radiation physics prior to semester 3.

Introduction:  

This double degree program is offered by the Faculty of Medicine Heidelberg at Heidelberg University, Germany (UHD) and the Faculty of Physics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Chile (PUC). 

The first two semesters take place on-site at PUC in Santiago de Chile. The third semester comprises online modules offered by UHD. In parallel practical work sessions are provided by PUC at associated hospitals in Chile. During the fourth semester the final Master’s Thesis can either be written at PUC or at UHD.

Course outline.

Medical physicists play a decisive role in radiotherapy processes. In close conjunction with physicians, they plan and carry out radiation treatment for patients. They must also pay due heed to all relevant aspects involved in radiotherapy, including radiation protection and the maintenance of radiotherapy and imaging equipment.

The curriculum of CMP includes classes on theoretical and clinical medicine, medical physics, medical engineering, biomathematics, legal questions, nuclear medicine, diagnostic radiology, dosimetry, radiation protection and application and methods of modern radiotherapy. Additionally, participants will gain fundamental experience in scientific investigation and research.

This bilingual program (English and Spanish) in medical physics best prepares participants to take the next steps in their professional career.
