    Description:
    This course will explore a range of topics related to current research in urban and regional economics: the modelling and estimation of agglomeration economies; the costs of cities and their internal structure with emphasis on land use regulations and transportation; amenities and the local supply of labour; the sizes and functions of cities. One session will also be devoted to urban economics in Colombia.

    Objective:
    Introduce students to the economic aspects of the study of cities, with a balanced theoretical and empirical approach.
     
    Specific objectives:

    •     Improve student’s technical abilities to modelling aspects in urban economics, as well as applied econometrics techniques to conduct research on the topic.
    •     Foster student’s critical thinking about existing research in urban economics.

     
    Target public:
    • Graduate students in economics, urban planning, sociology and political science. Policy markers interested in the topic, with a degree in any of the fields mentioned.
     
    Methodology: 3 hours per day.
