The Master's Degree Programme in AI for Marketing and Communication trains professionals capable of operating in marketing and digital communication environments, where technology and artificial intelligence play a central role. The programme is delivered entirely in English and prepares students for international, digital, and data-driven contexts.
Teaching combines theoretical lectures, laboratories, project work, and practical exercises, along with opportunities to engage with industry professionals, in order to develop active, problem-solving-oriented skills. Students learn to interpret the evolution of digital platforms, anticipate consumer behaviour, and design innovative, responsible, and sustainable marketing and communication strategies.
The study programme includes a curricular internship at companies, institutions, and technology startups, fostering the practical application of acquired skills and facilitating entry into the job market. It also offers international mobility opportunities through Erasmus+ and the University's cooperation agreements.
Admission procedures and requirements.
Admission to the Master's Degree Programme in AI for Marketing and Communication is subject to an evaluation of the applicant’s academic background. All applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (or an equivalent first-cycle qualification).
A key distinction is made between applicants who hold an Italian academic qualification and those who hold a non-Italian (international) qualification.
Applicants with an Italian Bachelor’s Degree
Applicants may be admitted if they meet at least one of the following criteria:
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Economics (L-33), Business Administration (L-18), Communication Sciences (L-20) or Sociology (L-40) (or equivalent degree classes);
or
Have earned at least 36 CFU (ECTS) in total, obtained in at least two of the following areas: Social sciences, humanities and communication; Informatics and statistics; Economics, management and law. The detailed credit requirements and the relevant academic fields are published each year in the admission call (Bando).
Graduates from AFAM institutions (ISIA, Academies of Fine Arts and related institutions) may also be admitted, subject to an assessment of their study programme.
Applicants with an international Bachelor’s Degree (non-Italian qualification).
Applicants holding a degree obtained abroad must contact the Welcome Office and follow the dedicated procedures for international applicants; their academic preparation and documentation will be assessed by the relevant bodies, including the Admission Committee. Non-EU applicants are required to follow the specific application and enrolment procedure published by the University for non-EU students.
For admission and enrolment, international applicants must provide the documentation required by the applicable procedure, typically including:
an entrance visa for study purposes (issued by the competent Italian diplomatic authorities);
a certified true copy of the final qualification granting access to the second cycle, duly legalised as required (including consular legalisation and the Dichiarazione di valore in loco), with an official translation into Italian where applicable;
an official transcript of records (and, where required, detailed course syllabi);
a valid ID card/passport.
Language requirements.
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency at B2 level (CEFR). Language competence may be verified through recognised international certifications or other methods specified in the admission call.
Assessment.
The adequacy of the applicant’s academic preparation will be assessed by the Admission Committee, in line with the procedures and deadlines defined in the official admission call.

Timetable.
Classes are organized in two semesters during each year of study. Usually first semester starts in October and ends at the end of December; while second semester starts at the end of February and ends by May. After the course has ended, respecting the course structure provided, students may take an examination; Master’s Degree in AI for Marketing and Communication holds three exam sessions a year, in winter, summer and autumn and offers at least seven dates of exams during year.

Final thesis and graduation.
Master degree is awarded to students who have gained 120 ECTS/CFU credits and satisfied all curricular requirements, including the production and public defence of an original dissertation. The thesis is worth 15 ECTS.
To be admitted to the graduation session students must earn all the credits provided for in the program structure except for those credits of the thesis and must not have any pending financial obligations to LUMSA University. The thesis is evaluated on contents, presentation and defence.
For final assessment of the entire degree, a 110-point scale is used. Students pass the final degree exam if they obtain a mark of at least 66 (if student has an average of 18 on 30). The Board can unanimously award "lode" (cum laude) as a special distinction.
